Parking Tickets And Rental Cars
You thought that you had another quarter in your purse somewhere. Oh well, you'll just run into the store and ask directions really quickly and just hope that you don't get zapped by the meter maids. When you finally come out of the store, there's a brand new piece of paper waving at you from the windshield, and it is NOT a flier; it's a parking ticket. One concern a car renter might have is what to do in the event that you receive a parking ticket while renting a vehicle.
What Do I Do?
Somewhere in your rental agreement, there should be a small section where it mentions what to do in the event that you receive a parking ticket, but just in case you've forgotten your rental agreement at home or simply need some refreshing, the rules (as per Triangle Rent A Car) are as follows:
- The renter of a vehicle is responsible for paying any and all parking tickets.
- The entity handing out the citation will contact the owner of the vehicle (the rental car company) and send them the violation.
- The rental car company will determine who rented the vehicle on the date and time listed on the violation and forward the violation to the renter.
- It is best to hand the parking ticket to the agent at the time of return and have it added to your rental contract and you do not have to worry!
It's Not The End Of The World
We all make mistakes. However, by being more knowledgeable and informed consumers, we'll save ourselves a lot of hassle in the long run. Here is a brief list of "To-Do's" when renting a car:
- Read through your rental agreement.
- Check the car rental company's web site for the latest deals and list of vehicles.
- Speak to a customer car representative if you have any lingering questions.
- Always try to book a vehicle ahead of time.
- Know what kind of vehicle you will need for your travels.
When you rent a car and sign the rental agreement or contract, you're not just agreeing to rent a vehicle, you're also agreeing to assume responsibility as both a safe and informed driver. There is always a certain level of trust as well as risk that is placed on those who are renting vehicles. Obey the traffic rules, follow the speed limits and do not break the law. At Triangle Rent A Car, your safety is important to us.
