Kangaroo Conservation Center and Atlanta Rental Cars

Travelers in Atlanta rental cars will discover a number of educational facilities at the Kangaroo Conservation Center, as well as a number of recreational activities and other amenities. Here are just a few of the most popular exhibits:

  • Wallaby Station: In this area, travelers in Atlanta rental cars will have the opportunity to meet the Center’s collection of wallabies – medium sized kangaroos that grow to way approximately 45 lbs. There are currently three different types of wallabies living at the Center: Bennett’s wallabies, dama wallabies and agile wallabies.
  • Aussie Walkabout: Get up-close and personal with some of the Center’s friendly kangaroos along the Aussie Walkabout, a quarter mile network of paths that wind through the facility. Travelers in Atlanta rental cars will see joeys of all ages in this area, including small babies.
  • Wings Downunder Aviary: While kangaroos are the main attraction at the Kangaroo Conservation Center, travelers in Atlanta rental cars will also have the chance to better acquaint themselves with a number of Australian birds. The Wings Downunder Aviary is home to two exhibits: the first houses colourful lories and lorikeets, while the second features the rare blue-wing kookaburra.
  • Billabong Encounter: Immerse yourself in an authentic Australian habitat, the billabong, or watering hole. Billabongs are some of the most diverse areas in the outback, attracting a wide variety of animals, reptiles and birds. Travelers in Atlanta rental cars will encounter plenty of exotic creatures at the Kangaroo Conservation Center billabong, so don’t forget to bring a camera on your walkabout.
  • Butterfly Garden: Need a place to rest your weary feet after exploring the Conservation Center? Then head to the Butterfly Garden for a moment of Zen. Designed for both aesthetics as well as well as the attraction of butterflies, this garden provides travelers with a great place to eat lunch or enjoy a quick snack.
  • Other amenities include the Aussie Outpost gift shop, the Fern Valley hiking trail and the Australia Station medical and supply building.

Head to the outback on your upcoming vacation

The Kangaroo Conservation Center is located approximately 1.5 hours from downtown Atlanta. To get to the Center, head north on GA400 to Highway 136. Travel west on 136 for approximately 12 miles until you reach Bailey-Waters Road, at which point you’ll need to hang a right. The Kangaroo Conservation Center is the first address on the right.

Admission information

Travelers in Atlanta rental cars are invited to visit the Kangaroo Conservation Center Thursday through Saturday from 10am to 5pm. All visitors to the center must be five years of age or older. For the benefit and safety of all visitors and the Center’s animal collection, travelers are asked to refrain from horseplay, littering, shouting, running and the throwing of objects while inside the center. Admission to the center is $26 for adults, $25 for seniors and $20 for children.
