The Triangle Rent A Car Story 1979 to 2011

Frank Colonna, founder and President of Triangle Rent A Car, opened his first location in an old gas station on Western Boulevard in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1979 with a fleet of six cars and three employees. Frank built a new office a few miles down the road from the old gas station which is now the Hillsborough Street location. This site housed both the corporate office and rental office. In 2000 a new corporate office for Triangle was built on Hargrove Road in North Raleigh. The rental office on Hillsborough Street remained and continues to provide the same level of service that Frank offered in 1979 but they definitely have more vehicles.

Since 1982 the Triangle Rent A Car location in historic Wilmington, North Carolina has been working with the film industry. As the Wilmington film industry built production studios, Triangle was building a reputation as one of the film industries leading providers of car, truck and passenger van rentals. We specialize in transportation for film production companies in the Southeast and have been involved with over 230 major films and made-for-TV movies. This reputation has enabled Triangle to build our leisure market business as well, allowing the location to grow more each year.

Since 1990 Triangle Rent A Car provided rental vehicles to the Capital Boulevard area in Raleigh, North Carolina from several different locations. We built our current facility on Spring Forest Road in 1997. Our location has offered a specialized fleet of cars, trucks and passenger vans to the local businesses and retail customers in this North Raleigh area. We are the local neighborhood rental car company and our staff has never lost sight of the people who have helped this location to succeed in a very competitive industry...our customers.

Triangle Rent A Car opened for business on South Boulevard in 1991, providing service to primarily downtown Charlotte, North Carolina and Pineville, south of Charlotte. Just as Charlotte has grown over the years Triangle Rent A Car continues to grow by maintaining both business and leisure customer relationships. Since 1995 the Triangle Rent A Car location in Durham, North Carolina has been walking a very fine line since it is located in the middle of the eight miles between Tarheel country and Blue Devil country. What a fun place to be especially during basketball season. Even if you are not an ACC sports fan you can appreciate and have fun with the rivalry and the energy it produces. Our slogan, "We'll get you to the game on time" is very appropriate for this location.

In 1995 Frank Colonna, President of Triangle Rent A Car decided it was time to move outside of the North Carolina borders to open a Triangle location and he selected Greenville, South Carolina. Greenville is located halfway between Charlotte, North Carolina and Atlanta, Georgia and close to Interstate 85. This was an exciting time for Triangle Rent A Car and has proven to be the right move to expand our coverage in the Southeast. The Greenville location continues to grow each year serving both the business and leisure communities by offering a specialized fleet of cars, trucks and passenger vans.

Since 1996 the High Point Road location in Greensboro, North Carolina has been offering a specialized fleet of cars, trucks and passenger vans to the folks who live southwest of Greensboro. Because our office is located near Interstate 85 and Interstate 40 we're able to get folks moving North, South, East or West very quickly for a business trip, vacation or holiday. After all we are in the business of moving people.

Triangle Rent A Car opened their first location in Columbia, South Carolina in 1996 on Harbison Boulevard. At that time our new construction was only one of many new buildings going up in that area near the Columbiana Mall. With the amount of growth happening in Columbia, Frank Colonna, President of Triangle Rent A Car knew a location here would be the right decision. We have been providing passenger vans, cars and trucks to both the business and leisure markets and have continued to grow each year with the community.

In 1997 it was time for Triangle Rent A Car to cross the border from North Carolina into Virginia so we opened two locations in Richmond. Our Midlothian Turnpike location began providing replacement service vehicles to local car dealerships and began adding new business clients from other markets. Between referral business and pounding the pavement to find new customers the Midlothian Turnpike location began growing and continues to be successful each year.

Our Broad Street location in Richmond, Virginia began signing corporate accounts before we even opened our door for business in 1997. The Triangle team was hard at work introducing a business program for rental vehicles to the local business community. Our sales efforts paid off then and continue with dedication to customer service from our Triangle team.

Since 1998 Triangle Rent A Car on Independence Boulevard in Charlotte, North Carolina has provided east Charlotte and the Matthews area with excellent customer service. From our reservation agents to our sales associates to the vehicle service agents making sure your rental is spotless; we all have one goal in mind...to insure your satisfaction. In 1998 the Winston-Salem, North Carolina location for Triangle Rent A Car opened for business and the competition began. Our Silas Creek Parkway location competes for bragging rights that they provide extraordinary customer service and that they are number one in building customer loyalty. North Carolina has a lot of competition within the state borders whether it is between Triangle Rent A Car locations; the outstanding Universities such as Wake Forest and Duke; or Wake Forest School of Medicine and UNC Chapel Hill Hospital. The competition continues and Triangle Rent A Car customers are the beneficiaries.

Since 1998 our Charleston, South Carolina location has been providing the newest fleet of vehicles to the oldest city in South Carolina. Charleston is rich in history featuring many historic landmarks and attractions and our staff prides itself on delivering the most personalized service in all of Charleston. Triangle is in the people moving business and we have been renting 15-passenger vans and cars to get people to all of Charleston's landmarks and we hope to become a landmark ourselves.

Since 1999 when Triangle Rent A Car opened their doors on North Tryon Street in Charlotte, North Carolina the area has grown tremendously. There is always a lot happening in the area with UNC – Charlotte, the Speedway and Concord continuing to grow and bringing folks to the area. Three years after opening locations in the Richmond, Virginia area Triangle Rent A Car decided to expand and open a location in Hampton, Virginia in 2000. Triangle saw this as a business opportunity to provide a specialized fleet of cars, trucks and passenger vans to the military as well as private industry that supports the military in this region. Triangle Rent A Car understands and appreciates the unique needs and transportation demands of all types of markets to include the leisure market and this understanding has enable the Hampton, Virginia Triangle Rent A Car location to continue to grow and succeed.

In 2000 Triangle Rent A Car opened the Virginia Beach, Virginia location on Newtown Road the same year our Mercury Boulevard location in Hampton, Virginia opened. This was an attempt to get the Triangle Rent A Car name known throughout the Tidewater region. It was better to advertise and sell two locations in the region to our business contacts at the same time. The location grew so much that in 2010 we had to move two miles down the road to a larger facility near the Norfolk Airport.

Since 2002 the downtown Raleigh and Garner, North Carolina was growing and expanding so Triangle decided to open a location on South Wilmington Street in Raleigh. The location is convenient to both downtown business areas, providing rental vehicles to both government and private industry. The locations growth can also be attributed to our location which is in the Y of two major roads coming out of downtown Raleigh. Frank knows how to pick a location!

Since 2003 our Gastonia, North Carolina branch office has provided car rentals for many business travelers as well as tourists who come to enjoy North Carolina's beauty. Gastonia is a quaint North Carolina town located immediately west of the Queen City of Charlotte. Our Gastonia team is passionate about matching clients to the rental car that will most enhance their experience and travel plans. We love helping people solve their transportation needs with a smile.

Since 2004 this Triangle Rent A Car location has been providing service to Fayetteville, Fort Bragg and Spring Lake, North Carolina. There's a lot of pride in working at this particular Triangle branch location due to the connection between our staff and the community and that connection is service to country. Many of our staff has served in the armed forces or are active reserve members. We would like to thank the community as a whole for their military service.

In 2004 the Triangle Rent A Car location in Chesapeake, Virginia was opened to compliment our existing locations in Virginia. Serving the military, private industry and leisure markets Triangle has never lost sight of the people who have helped the company to succeed in a very competitive industry...our customers. Focus on customer satisfaction is the key to our past and continued growth in the Tidewater area.

In 2005 Triangle Rent A Car opened their second location in Columbia, South Carolina on Two Notch Road. The driving force to open in this area was the amount of growth and new construction on and around Two Notch Road. Columbia is the state capital and supports the Army training facility at Fort Jackson. Triangle Rent A Car supports the business and leisure community in Columbia by providing passenger vans, trucks and cars.

In 2006 Triangle Rent A Car opened a location to serve the town that host the largest bi-annual furniture show in the world. High Point, North Carolina is proud to have representatives of over 100 furniture retail outlets and buyers from across the world descend on this central North Carolina town twice a year. Triangle has always been willing and ready to help provide transportation to the many out-of-town visitors. Currently our High Point location will pick up travelers at the Greensboro Triad International Airport a short 15-minute ride away.

Triangle Rent A Car acquired three Accent Rent A Car locations in Metro Atlanta on May 1, 2006. The Snellville, Georgia location was one of these and the location was later moved to a new facility on Highway 78. Excellent customer service and satisfaction was the focus in the Atlanta market and continues today as the Triangle Rent A Car team offers a specialized fleet of cars, trucks and passenger vans to the residence of Snellville, Georgia.

The Norcross, Georgia location was one of the first Metro Atlanta Triangle Rent A Car locations to open in 2006. Opening this location offered Triangle an important entrance into the growing Atlanta market. Triangle already had branches in both the Carolinas and Virginia and a move into Georgia was simply a matter of time.

I guess you could say that Georgia was on Frank Colonna's mind when he expanded the Triangle Rent A Car territory to include our Peachtree Road location in Atlanta. Opening three locations at one time in 2006 was an exciting opportunity for Triangle to introduce Atlanta to our diverse and large fleet of vehicles. The demand for rental vehicles exceeded expectations and we continue to build the business one customer at a time.

One year after opening three locations in the Metro Atlanta area we decided to make it four locations when we opened our Marietta, Georgia location on Cobb Parkway in 2007. We're trying to get the word out to inform Atlanta residence that there are quite a few reasons to consider renting from Triangle: Convenient locations open seven days a week, courteous staff and a fleet of cars, trucks, SUVs and passenger vans. Having this fourth location should make the task easier.

In October of 2009 Triangle Rent A Car opened a location on Veteran's Parkway in Columbus, Georgia. We wanted to share the Triangle way of taking care of business to the military community of Columbus, Georgia and we do that one customer at a time by guaranteeing 100% satisfaction. With the continued growth of Triangle Rent A Car across the Carolina's, Virginia and Georgia it must be working.

Frank Colonna decided to go South of Atlanta and opened a location in Riverdale, Georgia in late May of 2011. The business and residential community were extremely welcoming because the location grew faster than we expected. Triangle will win over the Atlanta Metro area one customer and one location at a time.

Today with locations in the Carolinas, Virginia and Georgia, over 400 employees and thousands of cars, trucks and vans and hundreds of thousands of satisfied renters, Triangle has never lost sight of the people who have helped the company to succeed...our customers, both business and leisure alike.
